I find this crude and vulgar post offensive. It cheapens not only the good cause it purports to support but also debases females in general.

Well said Victor, I also find it offensive, perhaps we should stop young people from viewing this site.

I don't see why anyone would find this post offensive. If it's not your thing then simply don't go.

Why do you think the post 'debases females'?

But posting events to the forum does break the rules:

(see rule 5).

You're so right Victor, it is completely offensive that people might want to have a fun night out with their friends whilst also raising money for a worthwhile cause..... Embarassed

i know its a village we live in but we aren't all old and most of us like a good night out with friends and its even better when ur raising money for a good cause along the way. i don't find the post offensive at all and i'm rather looking forward to attending the event.

well done to the organiser for raising money for a very worthy cause.

interesting event and comments of support from 'newly registered persons'. This is a well marketed event with professional artist and strippers - sounds a bit like a re-incarnation of stagestruck. I wonder how much will go to the charity after administration, and professional fees hmmm! will the profits on goods sold go to the charity? Better to donate direct and sign a tax gift aid form. Also you can always go to Ann Summers shops for the goodies.

Persons? I can see only one post from a newly registered person.

The description says 'all proceeds' go to charity so I'd hope that's the case. It would be very low to rip off a cancer charity. But why have you reason to believe this will happen here? Isn't it just as likely to happen as with any other charity event? Are you letting your dislike of the event affect your judgement?

hey,
I don't think the post is overly crude, like Dan says you don't have to goto it if it isn't your thing. perhaps it would be better to put OVER 18s, at the top of the post / thread though.. instead of in the middle of the post.

as far as charity events go, the one's I do rely strongly on volenteers, and therefore ALL the money you give on the door would go straight to the charity. (I'm quite strick and don't even give expenses).. but yes most charity events only give the profit.. which is why Ricky Gaveiss will goto children in need in a helecopter no doubt Wink

EDIT : just spoke to a female friend who though it sounds revolting, and was shameful.. so I guess maybe it's not appropriate..

the posting should have said something like....."evening of fun and entertainment, for adults only, those easely offended please stay away. some of the proceeds to go to a breast cancer fund"
Dimps, Victor was saying that new posters were not joining in with the general mullarcy, but using the site to advertising functions., wich used to be against the rules.
Hope that clears it up for the next ten minutes.

i actually think this is a fantastic evening where alot of enjoyment will be had and i think kerry is doing a fantastic job of raising funds for a very worthy cause and we as a village should support her in the quest to raise funds for breast cancer and show we live in 20th century. but this section of chat is for events, whats the difference between advertising this event to advertising an event such as a fundraiser for the pre-school or school? its money going towards charity after all, so whats the difference??

i also agree with karenntony Smile

Surprisingly, i also agree with Karen and Tony in this particular case as Kerry is known. However I still find the whole tone offensive, why have this particular named character and his crew from Swindon. Calling it a 'Ladies Night' is wrong 'Girls night out' would be more appropriate. I realise in the 21st century, not 20th, girl power is great, but there are still a lot of Ladies out there who wouldn't think of going to see such a character. A lady has good manners and acts with decorum, if you Stanford Ladies fit that bill great but please be careful of the 'Friday night Swindon ladettes when they arrive!! Pre-school events are local to the community and very important to young mums, they are different from Nationwide appeals and this IS a LOCAL website even though the web is worldwide.

We just want to sat a massive THANK YOU to all of you who came on saturday, we raised £184 for breast cancer care, I have posted pics on my facebook so message me if you want to see them.
Victor I am not a bad person, I have lived in this village for a few years now, ive got children both at pre school and the school, ive also known people who have had and died of breast cancer and I no they would be proud I raised money so perhaps in the future rather than bad mouth an event in aid of a good cause you keep your opinions to yourself...you could even do your bit for charity...a sponsored silence maybe!
Thanks again to everyone who made saturday a wonderful night.
Kerry xx

So pleased you had 'fun'. The Village Hall committee should be careful. 'Full Monty' events with crude MC's on a regular basis would be liable to see the licence for the village hall taken away so all the local organisations would suffer.

I'm starting to wonder whether to take Victor seriously.... I mean, the name "Victor", stated location "Planet Meldrew" - and look at his choice of avatar.

Are we hearing from a real person here or is it someone doing a bit of role play?

Can anyone be that miserable? Smile

Your personal attack does you no credit and certainly brings into question your suitability as website administrator.

Website administrators can't voice their opinions?

I wasn't aware of that one. Can someone hand me the rule book for website administrators?

If you think I'm doing a bad job, please feel free to start your own Stanford website.

The no1 rule of posting policy on this website is no ABUSIVE posts. I consider your post was abusive - you may not but that does not matter it is how it is received that matters. It was also not 'on topic' - rule 6. I suggest we draw a line under this matter.

Victor are you blackmailing the village hall to stop fund raising events?
We had many people turn up saturday, all had a fantastic evening and I did not have 1 bad word said about the event.
As for Dm he manages this site great, ive been coming on here since I moved to the village jan 05 just not as mehimandthekids!

The Village Hall is an amenity for the community, there must be a code of conduct and vet those hiring it and the type of events held. I am aware that a lot of people turned up and had a very enjoyable evening. At £15 a head plus raffle and merchandise a tidy sum must have been raised. Of those thousands - at least 2 - how much went to the Charity it was billed as in aid of?

have you ever run a charity night victor? I think you're having an unfair pop really.. all be-it that the content of the night might not be to your taste, it's difficult to raise money for charity.. the most I have raise for a Musin in MIND night is around £180, and that's with no-one getting paid.. and £3 / £4 entry to punters.. what's wrong with covering more costs, employing more people / entertainment, and doing it that way? if you want to give directly to charity that's obviously the best way to give the most to charity.. but ultimately you are buying a night out, and some/all of that money goes to charity. I've kinda stopped the Music in Mind nights at the moment because they're chuffin hard work.. as i say, if I paid some of the acts expenses, paid an engineer etc, then maybe there'd be more support and it would continue (obviously I'm not getting paid expenses either).. but as I say don't knock it unless you've tried it.. £180 for a village event is good.

Oh Dear Trevwill, without prejudice to previous posts, for the record I am happy that the amount raised in this case is genuine. I support Kerry in her efforts to raise money for charity.

Having been responsible at one stage for the Village Hall bookings, may I just respond to the comment regarding booking policy. As long as the rules of hiring were adhered to, it was not up to us to dictate who should hire the hall, or for what purpose.

At one stage (and possibly still now), 18th Birthday parties were banned, due to some problems caused by a number of bookings. If the people attending last Saturday were well behaved and there were no complaints from the neighbours regarding noise/anti-social behaviour, there should be no reason to discourage the Hall from being used (the cost of hiring the Hall is a source of income that allows the Hall to be maintained at its present level). If 'one-off' events are not booked, the cost to all the regular groups would be very much higher.
