New Waste Collection and Recycling Services

January 7th 2010 by Mike Dew

From October 2010 the Vale's waste collection services will undergo significant change with a different collection system, changes to collection days and different containers. It is anticipated that over 95% of householders will be issued with a wheeled bin for recyclate, one for residual waste and a "caddy" for food waste. It is appreciated that not all properties will be able to accommodate these containers and the identification of these will be result in alternative arrangements.Council Officers have started surveying all areas of the Vale in order to address these issues but it is important to involve local people to help resolve any issues prior to the launch.

Stanford in the Vale Parish Council initial response is one of protest regarding lack of information, lack of consultation(the original decision was made in September 2008)and as yet undefined cost to the taxpayer. Following discussion with VWHDC a meeting will be arranged in February for Parish Councils to discuss plans and implementation
