Upper Green - Hatford - Buckland Warren

Distance: Approx 4 miles, duration 1 1/2 hours

From Upper Green follow the signposted footpath up the drive to the right of Campdene House to Hatford. At the end of the footpath in Hatford turn left along the road and then right into the lane by the converted church. Follow this lane for 1/4 mile then turn right on the signposted bridlepath opposite the house called Woodlands. Follow the footpath past the barns on the left then along the field boundary and into Buckland Warren. Note that all dogs should be kept on lead.

Follow the bridlepath through the Warren. It runs uphill through a yew wood then downhill and gently uphill again. At the top there is a bridlepath crossroads with a field ahead on the right. Straight ahead leads to the A420 and Buckland while the path on the right goes back to Gainfield. Take the bridlepath on the left and follow this to where it leaves the Warren.

Continue along the path between the railings across Carswell Golf Course downhill to a gap in the hedge at the bottom where the railings end. Bear left through the gap and follow the path uphill across the field. Where the path meets Sandy Lane go straight on up the lane to where the lane turns sharp left at The Hideaway. Follow the lane downhill back past Woodlands into Hatford.

At Hatford either turn left at junction and retrace steps back to Stanford or turn right along the Shellingford road for 100 yds. Where the road dips down to a bridge turn left into the driveway for Little Hatford. Follow the track down to Little Hatford and continue past to the left of the house. Go over the stile into the field and bear left, following the electricity lines. Cross the stile in the fence at the end of the field and turn right onto the Hatford footpath. Follow this back to Stanford.
