Stanford Chat - Posting Policy
Before posting, please consider the following. Posts that break these rules will be edited or deleted. The webmaster and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit.
- Do not post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, defamatory, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws.
- No swearing.
- Do not post any advert for your company, your personal services, or any other product, service from which you will financially gain. The only exceptions to this rule are the "For Sale" and "Accommodation offered / wanted" sections in which you can post second hand items for sale and rooms to let. The board is intended for discussion of local issues and is not a billboard for the promotion of your products and services.
- Do not post anything that violates copyright or other proprietary rights in your posts. It is your responsibility to check the copyright status of any such material before posting on the boards.
- Do not post events as there is an existing page for events on the main site.
- Stay on topic when posting followup messages. If you want to change the subject, start a new topic.
Some basic general etiquette when posting on the internet: don't enter the whole message in upper case as it looks like you are shouting, and the same applies to excessive use of exclamation marks. This forum is used by newcomers to the internet and use of abbreviations such as txtspeak / internet slang may render your messages illegible to some users.
