Debbie Abrahams - A Professional Finish - Part 2
TIPS TO SUCCESSFUL KNITTING AND FINISHING
Suitable for knitters who have knitted and finished garments before, but want to improve their skills.

You will be asked to do a small amount of preparation before you come to the workshop.

The finishing techniques that we will cover include:

Methods of casting on - thumb, cable, invisible.
Methods of decreasing (fully fashioning).
Shaping shoulders using short-row-shaping .
How to knit a neat two-row buttonhole.
Knitting and sewing down button/buttonhole bands.

Stanford-in-the-Vale Gardening Club
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday
July 22nd in the large hall of the Village Hall at 7.30pm.
Christina Stapely will be speaking on 'herbs to aid the gardener'.
Christine is an expert on historical herbs and a medicinal herbalist.
She has published books on herb cultivation and use.
The competition-a posy of herbs.
refreshments and a raffle.
Visitors are very welcome ( a amall entry fee)

An informal, friendly knitting and crochet group normally meeting every last Wednesday of the month.

Next meeting Wednesday 29th July at the Horse and Jockey from 7pm.

*Learn how to knit with sequins and beads*

This course is suitable for knitters who can already knit and follow a basic knitting pattern. Working on a small projects for the festive table you will learn the following:

* how to get beads and sequins easily onto your yarn
* how to knit with beads and sequins using the slip stitch technique

Closing date for Open Art Comptition.
Stanford Art Group is holding an Open Art Competition for the residents (aged 18 years +)of Stanford and surrounding towns and villages.
A 1st prize of £50, 2nd of £40 and 3rd of £30 each with a years free membership of the Group are offered. An entry fee of £5 will be charged.
Subject matter and style will be at the artist's discretion.
Closing date will be 13th November 2009. Judging will take place on the weekend of 14/15 November 2009 at the United Reform Church, Stanford. More details from 01367 718867 or 710284
