Thursdays 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Stanford in the Vale Village Hall

Open house - drop in for tea/coffee and a chat - newspapers/magazines, table games, book exchange, jigsaw puzzle library available. Regular bring and buy stall. Average attendance of 25 people each week - all ages including carers of young children.

Stanford Art Group

Stanford Art Group is a small friendly group who are interested in and enjoy art. We meet on the second Monday in the month at 7.15 pm in the Village Hall. Our meetings consist of visiting speakers, work shops and critiques. Our members are of mixed ability, using different mediums. This gives a wide range of work produced and enjoyed. Our members are able to enter their work in the annual Oxfordshire Art Weeks Exhibition if they wish.

Our monthly programme is published in the 'What's On', the Faringdon Folly and the Stanford Parish News Letter.

1st Stanford in the Vale Scout Group

Boys and girls are welcome to join all sections of the Scout Group.

  • Beavers (6-8 years old) meet in the village hall at 5.45-7 pm on Thursdays
  • Cubs (8-10.5 years old) meet in the village hall at 6.00-7.30 pm on Tuesdays
  • Scouts (10.5-14 years old) meet in the village hall at 7.15-9.15 pm on Thursdays
  • Explorer Scouts (14-18 years old) meet in the village hall at 7.15-9.15 on Thursdays

    Rainbows (5-7 years old) 4.00 to 5.00pm in the small village hall

    Stanford in the Vale Short Mat Bowls Club

    The club is open to anyone from the age of 10 years. An annual subscription, currently six pounds per year, is charged and a fee of one pound per session which includes tea/coffee and biscuits. The first three sessions that a new person attends are free. We ask that players wear either bowling shoes or slippers with flat,smooth soles. We have equipment i.e sets of bowls which can be used by anyone wishing to have a go!

    We meet in the Village Hall:
    on Monday evenings from 7.30 - 9.30
    Tuesday afternoons fom 2.00 - 4.00
    Alternate Friday evenings from 7.30 - 9.30

    We are a very friendly group who all began at varying times essentialy to play social bowls. Many of us have gone on to competitive bowling, We now have two teams in the Oxfordshire Short Mat Bowling Association and several of our members have been selected to play for Oxfordshire in the Inter County Championships.
