Home Composting
Over 25% of household waste is organic material which could be composted. Home composting is an effective form of recycling, which could turn this organic waste into a dark, rich fibrous compost, which costs nothing and can be used in a number of ways around the garden. Composters can be obtained from Frosts Garden Centre at Millets Farm, Frilford near Abingdon.

Change the way you change your baby
In the UK the amount of disposable nappy waste is between 400,000 and
half a million tonnes per annum. The estimated cost of this to local authorities,
in collection and disposal charges, is over £40 million.
By using cloth nappies on your little one you can not only save yourself
money but help the environment by not contributing to the volume of nappy waste
currently going to landfill. One set of nappies can easily be used on several
children and they come in a range of styles to suit your needs, are modern
looking and easy to use.
Contact your friendly Lollipop Agent for advice on the right cloth nappy for your baby.
Use Public Transport Where Possible
It is often easier and quicker to use public transport when travelling any significant distance - the problem is working out the route and timing when travelling by several different modes. Traveline connects the bus, coach and train timetables making planning your journey easy.

Install Energy-Saving Light Bulbs
Energy Saving Bulbs use around one fifth the power of an equivalent normal bulb, and will last over 5 times longer. These are available in most supermarkets, however a cheap source of these is the local IKEA store in Bristol - currently a 60W equivalent 11W bulb is just two pounds.
