Scramblers - The St Denys’ Toddler Group

We run the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month during term time, 9am-10.30am, at St Denys Church. For all preschool age children and their parent/careers.

St. Denys Church Bell Ringers

Stanford Church Tower has a lovely ring of 8 bells, the tenor (heaviest bell) weighing 8cwt. The art of church bell ringing is a skill which can be learnt by almost anyone from the age of 10 upwards. The ringers practice weekly on a Tuesday from 7.30-9pm. Each bell is rung by one person. We aim to ensure that the bells are rung for every Sunday morning church service (9.45-10.15 ringing) and we also aim to ring for all sorts of other special occasions, whether church services or special occasions such as Coronations and other national events or - by special arrangement - for weddings and such like.

Church bell ringing is a fantastic and fascinating skill:- there is always something different to try; it keeps the mind active; it boosts concentration, teamwork, listening and analytical skills; it is effective exercise for posture and toning muscles, it is gently aerobic - and it burns calories; you meet new people and visit new places; its a great activity for parents and children to learn and enjoy together; and we can make a glorious sound – from the largest and loudest (unamplified) musical instruments in the world!

Please contact us at StDenysChurchBells@btinternet.com for more information.

Stanford in the Vale Football Club

Stanford in the Vale F.C. has been in existence for a long time, and as with most football clubs have had successful seasons, and others where success seems a long way off.

At present the Senior Teams compete in the North Berks League. the first team in division three and the reserves in division five. In addition to the men's Senior Teams, there is also a ladies team, and four junior teams associated with the club.

The Club Ground and clubhouse is on Cottage Rd. and there are usually games played every Saturday afternoon during the season. In future it is hoped that fixtures and results will be posted on the web site.

In addition to football there are a lot of other activities that take place at the club.

There are facilities for darts, pool, dominoes and during the summer aunt sally, If there are any of you who haven't heard of "aunt sally" come along on a Wednesday evening for a bit of fun. The darts, dominoes and aunt sally all compete in local leagues, so there is a lot of interest.

The Club is open most evenings, and everyone is welcome .The membership fee is £6 (senior citizens £4) but there are plenty of advantages to offset that!

So, if you are interested please come along either to watch a match or, to have a natter and a game of Pool or whatever takes your fancy.
