Walks
Horsecroft to Park Lane and Marlborough Lane
Distance: Approx 3 miles, duration: 1 hour
Go down Horsecroft to the bridge over the brook, turn right through the gate by the signposted footpath and walk through the field. Cross the bridge over the Ock then bear left diagonally across the field on the other side of the bridge. Head for lightning-struck tree. Cross open bridge over usually dry ditch and follow path to the gate in hedge opposite. Go through gates into next field. Cross this field diagonally to gate in the hedge on the opposite side approx in mid point of hedge. Go through gates into next field and walk to gate in left hand boundary. There's a pedestrian gate on the left hand side of this. Aim for top left hand corner of field where the drive to Stanford Park Farm (on the left) joins Park Lane (other side of the hedge ahead). There is another gate in the hedge into into Park Lane opposite Stanford Park Cottages. Go through this gate and turn right into Park Lane and follow for about 1/2 mile. Just before junction with A417 there is a gate on right and a footpath signposted to Stanford. Go through this and follow the short track to the gate at end. Go over stile on the left of the gate into the field. Follow track across the field towards towards the village aiming for gate in fence on right. Go through gate and continue towards village with fence on left. This will bring you to footbridge over the Ock with Penstones Court on left. Follow footpath over bridge and into Marlborough Lane. Continue down Marlborough Lane to the High St.
